Freedom: of what is usually understood and the courage to change

A 16-year-old philosopher points to the wound: what does it mean that we fear change? She looks, reads seemingly insignificant things like the keyboard of her computer, and asks questions that anyone should ask. Precisely because it is something HUMAN, unique, and inimitable …

Why do we want freedom? What do we understand by freedom? One in two people in Germany would say that freedom is going out partying in a club until 4 in the morning or drinking alcohol legally at 18 and driving a car. For many, freedom is the fulfillment of desires that most have limited due to others. But what is freedom really? Freedom can be different for everyone. It is always different because we all live in different environments. An average young person in Germany might say: undoubtedly, becoming independent at 18 and setting parents aside. A Syrian child would say: going out to play without fear. Everyone can freely shape their own ideas of freedom. But putting them into practice would be the crux of the matter .

Fear does not give freedom, but with freedom, fear has no place. We must fight for what we want, but who dares? Humans are held back by one thing: the fear of what might happen. But freedom arises where we stay united. We could all fight together. For ourselves, for our loved ones, also for our equals. But let's be honest: how many of us would stand up and fight for others? How many of us would speak on behalf of others and ask for justice? Few, right? Why? Perhaps because we only think of ourselves and never of others. But if we find ourselves in the situation: who will come to give us a hand? In the end, no one can change if they do not want to, and no one can be convinced. It must come from the heart. Freedom begins in the heart and also ends in the heart. We have a heart to love. But what percentage turns into love? Love exists when we are free.

Freedom is not only found in the outside world. First, we must find freedom within ourselves. But where is it? Tell me, where do I find this freedom within me? I can't find it. Why can't I, and why is it not easy to find? It is not simple. Because we hide our own freedom. We lock it in a black box and throw it into the infinite sea of pain. We do not let our inner freedom surface because we are afraid. Afraid to live according to our ideas and desires. We have drawn the curtain so that no one can see our true colors, but we do not have the freedom to be who we want to be. We are afraid. But what is this fear that holds us back? We sit in a corner and lack the strength to get up. We do not want to be judged and pretend to be a different thing. We put on a false mask and show that we are like the rest. Often appearing selfish, hopeless, as everyone says they are, despite being unique.

Do not cut the thorns of the rose, because then it no longer bears the name of rose. Let our thorns prune us, even though it is our personal mark. Let our freedom be chipped away. Freedom is the most precious thing in the world; many do not have it, and many squander it. Do not waste it, as you may lose it someday. Do not let them take your freedom from you. Many people want to bring out their inner freedom, but they have lost the opportunity and are waiting for the next train. It will take a long time before it arrives. You can still get on the train. And follow the best path. No one will give you a free ticket to the land of wonders. You have to work hard for yourself and buy it. That is how it becomes more valuable. I do not mean that you should reject the help of another; on the contrary, accept it and walk together on the path. Find someone who fights for your inner and outer freedom. Someone who accepts you for who you are and puts a stop to the rest.

On a computer keyboard, the only readable word is WERT (from German: courage) COURAGE, which is formed randomly, so to speak. The only four letters that come together involuntarily. You are worthy that God does not destroy the world. Your life is worth it! There is courage in being free. Close your eyes for a minute and you will see nothing. No one laughs at you, and it does not matter if they do … why not live with your eyes open? Give yourself the push to be free and ignore the rest. Happiness can be painful, but the final result will always be wonderful.
